At Kate Farms we are intentional about the ingredients that we have chosen for our products. Kate Farms products provide a blend of fat sources including organic MCT oil that provides MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), organic flaxseed oil which provides omega-3 fatty acids, and organic high linoleic sunflower oil which provides omega-6 fatty acids. It is important to note that both omega-6 and omega-3 are essential fatty acids. This means that the body is not able to produce them on its own and they both must be consumed through the diet. For these essential fatty acids, and our other nutrients, recommendations for daily consumption, known as Adequate Intake levels (AI’s) have been established by the IOM (National Academy of Medicine). Since the AI for omega-6 fatty acids is higher than that of omega-3 fatty acids, our products have an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio equal to or lesser than 4:1.
